While building our video platform we have come up with several hardware based solutions to our clients needs. We think they are pretty cool and so we have begun to package them as standalone products which can be installed on site instead of hosted as a service. Each one is still related to our core business model and supports the services we offer but having had numerous requests for these devices we have decided to list some basic information about them here.
For customers looking to take traditional television to the next step, we offer our Satellite Acquisition Engine which receives your satellite channels, records them, splits them, then stores them were you want them.
The same encoding engines we use to power our video platform can also be purchased as a hardware solution for install on our customer’s site. These encoding appliances take your videos and transform them for playback on a wide variety of devices and screens. With support for hundreds of profiles we make sure that your media is ready to be seen where you want it. Our encoders are also equipped with a powerful mixing engine that can crop, split and apply visual filters to your videos automatically, either via our web interface or using it’s scripting engine.
Multicasting is the perfect solution for large organizations that want to present robust video presentations inside of an organization’s infrastructure.
Multicasting allows a single broadcast feed to be connected to and viewed but a large number of viewers without having to initiate individual connections with each viewer. This means low bandwidth consumption for a large audience. Our multicast appliance sits inside the infrastructure and broadcasts the live or on demand video feed to the connected players.
Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) have become the most reliable way to make sure you content will scale easily to traffic demands. It also ensures that your viewers are being served video from a location closest to them for best performance. But not all CDNs are equal, and even the largest CDNs don’t have end points in every locations.
Enter the vpod.tv CDN Appliance. If you need to have custom nodes created in your location to support viewers that the larger CDNs don’t have coverage for our CDN appliance is easily installed and configured to take content from your origin server and duplicate it out to the nodes, thus guaranteeing that your content is available exactly where you need it.
Our set top box appliance is custom programmed to work in conjunction with our encoding, mixing, and satellite acquisition appliances to create a end to end content transcoding and delivery system.
